About Kathleen Zachary, Psy.D. and her independently owned and operated private practice:

Individual and Family Psychotherapy with Children, Adolescents, Adults and Parents

Life is full of challenges and while no one asks to struggle or feel bad, with the assistance of a therapist, one can get unstuck and live life in a more empowering, satisfying and peaceful manner. For over 25 years as a licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Zachary has sought to make a difference in the lives of others by offering a safe and respectful space to grow, heal, and improve well-being.  She collaborates with clients to establish a comfortable and corrective experience and uses evidence-based strategies and interventions to address such concerns as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, loss and grief, overthinking, relationship struggles, stress management and trauma.

Dr. Zachary’s experience with children and her knowledge of development enhances her understanding of how early experiences impact and shape lives; she uses this understanding to help people of all ages gain insight and allow for change.  Dr. Zachary uses an integrative approach when working with children and adolescents; she works with both the child and parent(s) to address and modify behaviors, attend to underlying developmental and emotional factors and implement individually tailored strategies to improve overall functioning of the child and family.  Since young children do not always verbalize their thoughts and feelings, Dr. Zachary often utilizes play therapy to better understand a child.

Dr. Zachary has a keen interest in the mind-body connection, the ability to rewire the brain, mindfulness, athletic performance enhancement and quieting the mind strategies.  As a certified Pilates instructor, she appreciates the ability to calm the mind and body with active breathing, mindful movement and relaxation.

Dr. Zachary earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Nova University and completed her internship training at Illinois State Psychiatric Institute.  She has provided services in inpatient, outpatient and crisis intervention settings and taught graduate courses in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Child Development.
