Kari Weiterschan, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with an independently owned and operated private practice, Evolve Healing and Wellness Center. She received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Miami and completed a postdoctoral residency at Rush University Medical Center, where she worked with military veterans and their families in an intensive PTSD treatment program. Kari previously completed her internship and predoctoral clinical training at the Miami VA Medical Center and continues to have a passion for working with veterans.

Dr. Weiterschan also holds a master’s degree in trauma and violence studies from New York University. She has specialized in trauma recovery and evidence-based interventions for PTSD throughout her career. She is particularly invested in helping women who have experienced sexual assault and veterans with combat related trauma.

Throughout her career, Dr. Weiterschan has served clients with diverse backgrounds and mental health needs, including anxiety, mood, anger, and substance use issues. She has experience with a variety of treatments, supported by existing research, which she flexibly draws from to meet her client’s needs, preferences, and goals.

As a therapist, Dr. Weiterschan adopts a non-judgmental, yet directive approach, and believes
in empowering her clients to make informed decisions about the care they receive. She is committed to providing a safe space for clients to discuss challenging life experiences, explore opportunities for growth, and acquire skills to help them make the life changes they desire.

Aside from therapy, Dr. Weiterschan also offers neuropsychological testing for adults to clarify diagnoses and guide treatment planning. She conducts evaluations for ADHD, mood, anxiety, and personality disorders, among other presenting issues, by referral.
